General Manager Mark Hunter announced today that Doug Stacey has accepted the role of Physiotherapist for the London Knights
LONDON, ONTARIO: : General Manager Mark Hunter announced today that Doug Stacey has accepted the role of Physiotherapist for the London Knights Hockey Club. Stacey brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. He is currently in Russia with Canada’s National Men’s Junior Team as a part of the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge.
Stacey recently returned from the 2012 Youth winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria where he was the therapist for the Bronze medal Canadian Men’s U16 Hockey team. He also won Gold with the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team at the 2010, 2006 and 2002 Olympic Winter Games and the 2001 IIHF World Women’s Championship. He was a member of Canada’s National Men’s Junior Team that captured gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Grand Forks, ND in 2005, Ottawa in 2009 and Silver in Buffalo in 2011. Other Hockey Canada events that Stacey has been a part of include the U18 Men’s team that captured Gold at the IIHF World Championships in Yaroslavl, Russia in 2003 and Kazan, Russia in 2008. In total, he has covered 11 World Championships (5 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 4th place finishes) and 4 Olympics (3 Gold, 1 Bronze medals) for Hockey Canada.
Stacey presently works for the Fowler Kennedy Sports medicine clinic in London, Ontario and as a medical liason for Hockey Canada. A graduate of University of Ottawa in 1990, Stacey went onto complete a second degree in Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 1994. After completing a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy in 2001, he then completed his Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at McMaster University in 2005. Stacey and his family live in London, Ontario.
