MAATTA TO MAKE OLYMPIC DEBUT

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman and London Knights Alumni Olli Maatta has been named to Finland’s Olympic team for the 2014 Winter Olympics taking place in Sochi, Russia this coming February.  This will be his first Olympic experience.  In 43 games with the Penguins this season, 19 year old Maatta has recorded 13 points and has a plus minus rating of +3.  Maatta was a first overall selection by the Knights back in the 2011 CHL Import Draft and a first round selection (22nd overall) of the Penguins in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  He was an integral part of the Knights’ back to back Ontario Hockey League Championships earning Knights’ Rookie of the Year honours in 2011-2012 as well as the Knights’ Intensity Award and Co-Defenseman of the Year Award along with Scott Harrington in 2012-2013.  Congratulations Olli on this tremendous accomplishment!
