LONDON AND PETERBOROUGH COMPLETE TRADE

The London Knights and Peterborough Petes have completed a trade.
The Knights have acquired 2000-born defenseman Ryan Merkley from the Peterborough Petes in exchange for Niagara’s 3rd round selection in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection and conditional priority selections.
“We are very pleased to welcome Ryan to the London Knights organization,” said Knights’ General Manager Mark Hunter. “Ryan will join our organization as a veteran presence on our blueline. Ryan is a highly skilled player that we believe will have an immediate impact for our team.”
Merkley was originally selected in the 1st round, 1st overall, by the Guelph Storm in 2016. He was selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft, 21st overall, by the San Jose Sharks in 2018. Merkley split last season between the Guelph Storm and the Peterborough Petes. The native of Oakville, Ontario will be entering his fourth season in the Ontario Hockey League.
